"What exactly is the Hyner View Trail Challenge?" Lets start with the name; HYNER is the quiet little village, which hosts the event. The VIEW is from the top of Hyner Mountain and is one of the most spectacular vistas in the state. (Hang-gliders launched from this spot and soared above contestants at 2007's event.) The TRAIL this year will represent 90% of the course. The only road section will be the Hyner Bridge crossing the Susquehanna River. The course will be mostly single-track and will include over 4300 feet of elevation gain!! Now we come to CHALLENGE. According to Webster's Dictionary, a challenge is a task that requires a special effort or dedication. Make no mistake; The Hyner Trail will certainly be a "challenge".

The Hyner View Trail Challenge starts and finishes at the Western Clinton Sportmen's Association and is located in the most scenic region of Pennsylvania. (Note: WCSA mailing address is different than actual location for those trying to use online maps) Just look for Hyner...that's all you need!!
Since Hyner is a remote area, find Lock Haven and use this as your reference. There is one road leading out of Lock Haven towards Hyner...this is route 120 West. Starting from Lock Haven University, follow 120 West for about twenty miles. For people camping or coming in early Friday, the WCSA is on the left and there is a sign saying "Nature and Environmental Center". Follow the road up to the club. All others should park across the street.
Parking is located in the large field on the right before the bridge and is well marked with a big yellow sign and arrows. All participants must park here and walk over after registering. Please arrive early. Registering 1000 people will take some time. Arrows will then direct you to the event center.
